Sleek i-Divine Eyeshadow Palette: Storm

Hi everyone!

I don't believe I have done a post with swatches before, so welcome to the first of many more to come! A few weeks ago I purchased a few things off the Sleek website and today I'm showing you one of their eyeshadow palettes. This is actually my friend's palette. Since I was already purchasing things, we decided to purchase her palette with my things to save on shipping. My gorgeous friend has a blog too and you can check out her blog following this link: http://becbbyxo.blogspot.com.au/
So this is what we bought! I actually was only supposed to purchase an eyeshadow palette too.. but as you can see I have spending problems...

Sleek Haul

That said lets get straight into the Storm palette swatches!

HERE ARE THE SWATCHES!

I have to say these eyeshadows really shocked me (in a pleasant way)! They're pigmented and all that good stuff. The formula is not too chalky, it's nice and smooth. The only reason the shade 'Calm before the Storm' does not really show up on my skin is because it's about the same colour as my skin. So regardless of that, I'm definitely impressed! I was expecting the palette to be good, but not this good! My favourite shades in this palette are Blackout, Electric Storm, Gathering Storm and Perfect Storm. I really can't wait to swatch my own Bad Girl Palette for you guys and to create a look for it!

Anyway that's about it. I really did enjoy the Storm Palette. I'd like to thank Bec for letting me swatch her palette for my blog! Again the link to her lovely blog is at the start of this post!

Essie Polish Haul: Part 1 (Parka Perfect, After School Boy Blazer & Fiji)

Essie nail polishes are well known all over the world for having great formulas, great color choices and for being ideally priced. In Australia, a 13.5ml bottle retails for $16.95. I recently purchased 6 bottles of their polishes, which I mentioned in my previous video, to try and review for you. I had not ever tried Essie polishes before this, so this is my honest opinion on my view of their quality. In this post I've also included some cute nail art ideas you may want to try with these polishes!

Essie Polish Haul: Part 1 (Parka Perfect, After School Boy Blazer & Fiji)

The first polish I'd like to talk about is my favourite of the three I've tried so far. It's a lovely midnight blue called After School Boy Blazer (846). I love this polish! It was opaque in the first coat and had a nice smooth consistency. Although it was opaque, I almost always apply two coats and this is how the colour turned out without any topcoat.

Essie After School Boy Blazer (846)

As you can see it has a glossy finish which is lovely. I'm not usually one to have plain nail polish on and I really love nail art so for this manicure I decided to do my take on GALAXY NAILS! And why wouldn't I? The polish is such a beautiful dreamy midnight blue! So I grabbed a makeup sponge and a good 8 bottles of polish, both glittery and not and sponged it on to my heart's content! This is the finished look with Seche Vite topcoat.

My beautiful galaxy nail art design! As you can see in the picture below, each nail has a unique design that's totally cool!

Next polish I tried was in the shade Parka Perfect (855). It's a cool grey-blue shade with green and silver micro glitter running through. When the polish was dry I could barely see any of the shimmer unless I was in direct sunlight. I think this shade is just lovely! The formula was alright, opaque after two coats but did feel a little runnier than I would've liked. This is what It looks like with two coats and top coat.

Essie Parka Perfect (855)

To add some design into my manicure, this time I decided to try nail art stamping. This is totally new to me and I wasn't sure if I'd like it, so I purchased a beginner set. I would like to say that I have finally got the hang of it and do like stamping so I may invest in a Konad stamper and scraper set soon. I chose to stamp on a cute indie floral design with black polish as I felt it really suited the colour and the season. I have also included pictures of the started nail art stamping set I purchased, incase you were interested in purchasing an inexpensive version to test if you're interested in investing in the real thing. I purchased this set for $7 on Ozsale and it came with the stamper, scraper, plate holder and 5 plates.

Lastly I tried the shade Fiji (348). It is a beautiful colour! A nice warm toned baby pink. A creamy looking polosh, but unfortunately this was my least favourite formula. As it is a light colour, I needed to use three coats which was fine by me, however the formula of the polish itself felt far too thin. I think if the formula of this polish was more like 'After School Boy Blazer', it would have applied better and I would've liked it more. It's such a shame as the colour is truly my favourite light pink of all the light pinks I own. This is a swatch of what the polish looks like. I only wore this colour for a day to match an outfit I was wearing out so I didn't get to do any nail art to it unfortunately. If I had time I would have kept it simple and just applied a fine gold glitter polish to the tips of each nail in a fallout manner. It would have looked very feminine and beautiful!

Essie Fiji (348)

And with that concludes Part 1 of my Essie Haul. I'll be posting up Part 2 soon when I give those polishes a try! We all know you shouldn't use polish for more than 10 days non stop (well I wouldn't anyway, nails need to breathe) so I'll get it up as soon as I can.

Another INSANE Haul!!!

I can't believe I did it again! We all remember my previous massive haul....

Massive makeup haul

Well... I did it again! I couldn't help it though, the deal was too good to be true! Ladies and gentleman, I present to you, the most awesome sale of the month! Until the 15th, Chemist Warehouse is having a 50% off makeup sale! That's right, and no it is not a typo, a MASSIVE HALF PRICE SALE is happening RIGHT NOW at Chemist Warehouse! After work today, I bolted to Chemist Warehouse and took my pick of the goodies! Here is what I bought.

Chemist Warehouse Makeup Haul

I bought some new items I haven't tried before as well as some old favourites. I have always LOVED the Revlon Colorburst Balm Stains and when I saw a couple of new colours I just could not resist! I purchased 3 shades: 001 Honey, 025 Sweetheart and 020 Lovesick. They're such gorgeous and unique shades! I already know I will love them. I actually have quite a few of these, so I will do a review of them soon! :)

Next I purchased two new eye products. A twistable eyeliner and a gel eyeliner by Maybelline. The 'Master liner' and 'Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner' claim to be waterproof and smudgeproof. I had tried their twistable eyeliner before, but that was a long time ago so I'm sure the formula has changed. I can't wait to give these a go! I'm yet to find a waterproof and smudgeproof eyeliner that truly is waterproof and doesn't smudge easily, so I really hope these will live up to their claims.

Next I purchased three Maybelline lip products: The Baby Lips Pink Glow Lipbalm in shade Pink Blast; the Super Stay 24hr 2-Step Color in shade All Day Cherry and a Color Sensational lipstick from the Stripped Nudes Collection in shade 740 Coffee Craze.

And last but certainly not least I purchased two foundations. These are well loved foundations which I repurchased a shade darker as I am currently quite tanned. The Revlon Colorstay Foundation for Combination/Oily Skin in shade 330 Natural Tan and the Maybelline Fit Me Foundation Stick in shade 240 Golden Beige.

All in all I spent almost $100 in this haul which does sound like a lot but when you consider I saved just as much, it didn't feel as bad to the pocket!

Anyway that's all for now. If you're looking for a great deal I really suggest heading over to Chemist Warehouse before the sale ends! Happy Shopping!

Edit: The Leather Jacket (And How To Choose The Right One!)

The leather jacket is a classic piece which I'm sure almost every person owns. This season, leather is the must have accessory, and if you're looking for a leather item that will never go out of fashion, a jacket is the way to go. Leather can add style and edge to any outfit, and the leather jacket does just that.

Choosing a style to suit you is important no matter what price the jacket you're investing in is. There's the classic collared leather jacket, the biker jacket, the no collar jacket - you get the gist of it. Style is an important factor when purchasing an item which may be your staple for not only this season but for seasons to come. Body shape and personal taste are also important.

I had owned a classic biker jacket before this one, It was black with biker styling, padded shoulders, buckles on the bottom, regular length and was collared. I was over the style of it, plus I had outgrown it a little so I decided on buying a new one. Many factors influenced my choice and I thought I'd share them with you to help you make choosing your next leather jacket easier (or so I hope).

First I looked in the mirror and looked at my body shape. I'm short, curvy and have broad shoulders. This helped me determine that I wanted a cropped jacket to elongate my body and emphasise my hips and I did not want a collar as I felt it would emphasise my broad shoulders. Padding was optional (I usually prefer no padding in anything I own, but in some instances padding can shorten your shoulders or hide the fact you have naturally broad shoulders so I wasn't going to discount it right away). Next I looked at my wardrobe and decided on styling. Most of my clothes are edgy or on the opposite spectrum - girly. So I decided I wanted a modern leather jacket style, with zips or buckles or quilting, something which wasn't like the classic leather jacket was like. Though this I was definitely going to opt for a style I could use for seasons to come as well so it couldn't be too over the top.

Upon scrolling through countless online stores and visiting some retail stores too, I finally saw one that caught my fancy, a jacket by Motel Rocks. It was what I wanted, modern and edgy cool, but not too edgy, cropped and also collarless with some zip detailing. It also had padding which didn't accentuate my shoulders too much... My only complaint would be that the sleeves are too long, though I shouldn't be surprised, most jackets which fit my shoulders have sleeves which are too long for my arms - oh the problems with being vertically challenged! Anyway here is the jacket I chose. It retails for $139.99 at the Glue Store. It is PU leather, so not the real deal, but that's not an issue for me :)

Anyway, I hope my post was informative and will help you chose the right leather jacket for you! The purchasing method can actually be used for all jackets, and any item of clothing really. I usually only think about it if I'm purchasing something expensive or a staple item though.

Nur xx
